The Bundle of Energy

Grace Constance.

"So does this mean that she will be constantly gracious or that we will constantly need grace to raise her?" I wondered when Scott decided on this name for our unborn bundle of energy.

Fast forward to 20 months.

She is walking, climbing, running, chattering distinguishable words mixed with gibberish, trying to count to 3 and mimicking the alphabet.

She has graduated from crib to big girl bed because she was constantly climbing out of it.

Night before last Grace decided that she didn't need to sleep from 3 to 6 am. She got up to play with her piano, her talking bear, eat two brand-new library books and talk and sing and bang on the walls. Mommy got up to put her to bed three times and was almost late to work because she overslept. When Grace got up, she pulled all of the tissues out of the box in mommy and daddy's bedroom. Then she found her butt ointment and spread it liberally on her head, her dolly's head and drew on the wall with it. After a disgusted daddy gave her a shower and sat down to relax, she threw a book at his head because he was not paying attention to her. The rest of the day she threw dramatic tantrums.

Mommy got baby duty the rest of the night when she came home from work.

Sigh. She is only 20 months old. Now I wonder, "What will she be like at 5?"
